FTP is an abbreviation for File Transfer Protocol – a rather popular method for transferring web files between a home computer and a server. With an FTP program such as FileZilla or CuteFTP, you can establish a connection to the server and check its content in one pane, whereas the files on your computer will be displayed in another pane within the program window. All it takes to send files or entire folders in either direction is to select them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is preferred by a lot of users because you can create different FTP accounts and each of them can be limited to connect to just one folder on the server, so a web designer, for example, can complete their job without being able to see any other directory in your web hosting account. What’s more, the availability of different FTP accounts will also enable you to create multiple Internet sites using web design applications such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their corresponding folders on the server.

FTP Accounts in Shared Website Hosting

Our shared website hosting plans will permit you to set up multiple FTP accounts with only several mouse clicks from the Hepsia Control Panel and to choose what web files and folders each account can access. There is no upper limit on the total number of FTP accounts that you can create, so you can have as many as you wish at any particular time. If you don’t want to use a particular FTP account any longer or in case a web designer has completed their job and you do not want them to access your web content any longer, you can simply delete the account in question. The FTP section of the Hepsia Control Panel will allow you to see all currently active accounts shown alphabetically, together with different options, which you can access with a click. You will be able to update the access path and the password, to download an auto-configuration file, and so on. We also have an elaborate Help library, which can help you manage your FTP accounts in case you come across any problem.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to create a different FTP account for each of them, as we have not put a restriction on this feature with any of our semi-dedicated packages. You can do this via the FTP section of our simple-to-work-with Hepsia Control Panel where you can also see the full list of all the accounts that you’ve set up, along with the folder that each one can access. If needed, you’ll be able to modify the password for a specific account or to update its access path with several clicks of the mouse. You can also delete an account effortlessly if you no longer require it – for example, if you have hired a developer who is finished with the site and you do not want them to be able to access your files any longer. For your convenience, we have made a number of video tutorials, that will help you administer your FTP accounts with no effort if you have never used a hosting service previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS

The virtual private server plans that we’re offering will enable you to create unlimited FTP accounts to manage the content of your sites. This is valid regardless of which Virtual Private Server package you get and which Control Panel you pick during the VPS order procedure – DirectAdmin, cPanel or Hepsia. In any case, you will gain FTP access to the VPS server without installing any kind of software, since an FTP server is part of the basic software suite that is included in the Virtual Private Server packages by default. You can set up one FTP account for each domain or subdomain that you host or even separate accounts for one single directory – if you want different people to be able to access the website content inside it with their very own set of login details. With each of the Control Panels, setting up, deleting or modifying an FTP account will take no more than several clicks via an easy-to-use graphical interface.
