FTP is an abbreviation for File Transfer Protocol – a rather popular method for transferring web files between a home computer and a server. With an FTP program such as FileZilla or CuteFTP, you can establish a connection to the server and check its content in one pane, whereas the files on your computer will be displayed in another pane within the program window. All it takes to send files or entire folders in either direction is to select them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is preferred by a lot of users because you can create different FTP accounts and each of them can be limited to connect to just one folder on the server, so a web designer, for example, can complete their job without being able to see any other directory in your web hosting account. What’s more, the availability of different FTP accounts will also enable you to create multiple Internet sites using web design applications such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their corresponding folders on the server.

FTP Accounts in Shared Website Hosting

Our shared website hosting plans will permit you to set up multiple FTP accounts with only several mouse clicks from the Hepsia Control Panel and to choose what web files and folders each account can access. There is no upper limit on the total number of FTP accounts that you can create, so you can have as many as you wish at any particular time. If you don’t want to use a particular FTP account any longer or in case a web designer has completed their job and you do not want them to access your web content any longer, you can simply delete the account in question. The FTP section of the Hepsia Control Panel will allow you to see all currently active accounts shown alphabetically, together with different options, which you can access with a click. You will be able to update the access path and the password, to download an auto-configuration file, and so on.
